auto_stories Bible Guided Commentary

Note, first, that the pride of sinners puts God against them. If a person is high in status and proud in heart, with a spirit lifted up by his position, and that pride makes him rude toward God and people, he should know this: even if he admires himself and others praise him, he is disgusting to the Lord. The great God rejects him, and the holy God hates him.

Second, the strength of sinners cannot protect them from God, even if they band together with all their power. They may support one another through alliances and joined efforts, and they may unite against God. Still, they will not escape his fair judgment. Woe to the one who argues with his Maker (Proverbs 11:21; Isaiah 45:9).
