If what comes from within, from the heart, is good and comes from a good store, it will bring benefit back to us. Inner comfort and satisfaction will be daily bread, even a steady feast, for those who enjoy speech that builds others up.
But violence done to others will come back on the one who does it. The soul of the sinner, who holds onto evil plans and carries them out in words and actions, will feed on violence. They will have more than enough of it. “Pay her back as she has paid you” (Revelation 18:6). Every person will drink what they brew and eat what they speak, because by our words we will be justified, that is, declared right, or condemned (Matthew 12:37). As our fruit is, so will our food be (Romans 6:21-22).
