See here what religion mainly consists of: humility and the fear of the Lord, that is, walking humbly with God. We must honor God’s greatness and authority so much that we submit with humble hearts to the commands of his word and to the way he orders our lives. We should also think of ourselves rightly, with low and humble thoughts, and act humbly toward both God and other people. Where the fear of God is present, humility will follow.
See also what comes from it: riches, honor, comfort, and long life in this world, as far as God sees fit to give them. At the very least, it brings spiritual riches and honor through God’s favor, the promises and blessings of the covenant of grace, a covenant of God’s free saving promise, and, in the end, eternal life.
