See here how much it is in our best interest, as well as our duty, to submit to God and keep a reverent fear of him. The fear of the Lord, as it is the beginning of wisdom, is also the instruction and correction of wisdom. When the principles of religion are held firmly, they improve our understanding, correct our mistakes, and give the safest guide for our path. A deep awe of God in our hearts will lead us to wise choices and will check us when we speak or act foolishly.
We should also humble ourselves before other people and keep a proper respect for them. Where there is humility, there is a good sign of coming honor and a preparation for it. Those who humble themselves will be lifted up, both now and in the life to come.
