A wise person is not only someone who has wisdom, but someone who has it ready to use when needed. He keeps wisdom before him, like a map and compass that guide his course, or like a student who keeps his eyes on the copy in front of him. In that way, wisdom is always within reach. It is not hard to find when a decision has to be made.

By contrast, a restless mind can never do solid work well. A person with a wandering imagination, whose thoughts run everywhere, is of little use for serious business. The one whose eyes are “in the ends of the earth,” looking here and there and everywhere except where they should be, cannot settle on one subject. He cannot keep his mind on study or duty, because it is crowded with a thousand unrelated and useless thoughts.
