Children’s children are an honor to older people, if they live worthily, and they should do so. It is a joy to parents in old age to have children and grandchildren growing up who follow their good example. Such descendants help keep up the family’s good name and may even strengthen it.
It is also an honor for children to have wise and godly parents, and to still have them after they are grown and settled. A person should not think an aged parent is a burden or wish for their life to end. If the children are wise and good, then it is a great honor to bring comfort to their parents in the hard days of old age.
