This says the same thing as Proverbs 15:2, and it shows both how much good a wise person brings to those around him, and how much trouble a fool is.
Here is another lesson to notice. We use knowledge rightly when we share it, not when we keep it for a small circle of friends and refuse it to others who could benefit from it. We should give a share of this “spiritual alms,” or helpful wisdom, to seven and even to eight. In other words, we should not only be willing to share, but ready to spread good things widely, with humility and good judgment. We should work to pass on useful knowledge, teach some people so they can teach others, and so let it keep spreading.
It is a fault to pour out foolishness, but it is also a shame not to spread knowledge, or at least to offer some wise word now and then. The heart of a fool does not do that. It has nothing good to share, or, if it did, it would have neither the skill nor the desire to use it well. That is why such a person is of little value.
