Sin is the ruin of even the greatest families. The house of the wicked, no matter how strong and high it seems, will be torn down. It will end in poverty and shame, and in time it will disappear altogether. Even the hope he leans on for heaven will not hold. It is like a house that cannot stand in a storm, or a flood that is swept away.
Righteousness, by contrast, lifts up and gives stability even to humble families. The tent of the upright may seem movable and plain, but it will flourish. If God sees fit, that may include outward success. At the very least, it will include grace and comfort, which are the true riches and honors.
