Prayer
A prayer for a future spouse and a Hopeful Heart
If you hope to marry someday, you can bring that desire to God with honesty and trust. This prayer for a future spouse invites you to pray for the person you may marry while asking God to shape your own heart.
A prayer for a future spouse and a Hopeful Heart
Heavenly Father, You know my desire to share life with someone in marriage. I bring You my hopes, my questions, and the loneliness I sometimes feel. Help me trust You without pretending that waiting is easy. If marriage is part of my future, please care for the person I may one day marry. Surround them with wise friends and people who love them well. Help them grow in kindness, honesty, and faith, and meet them in whatever challenges they face today. Shape my heart, too. Teach me to listen, to forgive, and to take responsibility for my words and actions. Give me wisdom to recognize a healthy relationship and courage to step away from one that causes harm. Keep me from rushing out of fear or measuring my worth by my relationship status. Help me build a meaningful life and care for the people already around me. I place my future in Your hands. Lead me one step at a time, and help me receive Your love today. Amen

A word of encouragement
Proverbs 18:22 describes marriage as a good gift, but it does not promise that every person will marry. You can honor your desire for a spouse while trusting God with an uncertain future. James 1:5 encourages us to ask for wisdom, including wisdom about dating, boundaries, and commitment. As you wait, practice the kindness and patience described in Colossians 3:12. These qualities can strengthen every relationship in your life. Your worth is already secure in God's love, whatever your relationship status.
