Proverbs 22:3 - Meaning and Application

Here we see, first, the value of wisdom and careful thought. A prudent person, helped by good judgment, sees danger ahead and hides from it. He knows when he is stepping into temptation, and he puts on his armor and stays alert. When storm clouds begin to gather, he takes the warning and runs to the name of the Lord, his strong tower. Noah saw the coming flood, and Joseph saw the years of famine, so both made ready.

We also see the harm of acting without thought. Simple people believe every word that flatters them, but they do not believe warnings. So they keep going and are punished. They go into sin even when they are told what its end will be. They rush into trouble, even after clear warning, and then they regret their stubbornness when it is too late. See an example of both attitudes in (Exodus 9:20-21). Nothing is more deadly to precious souls than refusing to take warning.
