Bible Guided Policies
Privacy Policy
We built Bible Guided to be a trusted place for personal reflection, pastoral collaboration, and online ministry. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Last Updated: October 05, 2024
1. Information We Collect
We only collect information that helps us provide personalized guidance, operate the church platform, and meet legal obligations.
- Account details: name, username, email, denomination preferences, and profile photo or church logo.
- Usage data: readings requested, questions submitted to the AI advisor, dashboard activity, device/browser metadata, and approximate location derived from IP to set the correct timezone.
- Payment data: billing address and Stripe payment IDs (we never store full card numbers on our servers).
- Communications: pastor messages, contact requests, survey responses, or support conversations.
- Uploaded media: church announcements, events, photos, or other files you voluntarily provide.
2. How We Use Information
We process data to deliver the experience you expect:
- Personalize scripture guidance, reminders, and dashboards.
- Enable secure sign-ins, email verification, and fraud prevention.
- Operate church management tools, pastor onboarding, giving features, and notifications.
- Send account-related emails (activation, invoices, product updates) and respond to support tickets.
- Analyze aggregated usage trends so we can improve the product and maintain reliability.
We rely on the lawful bases of contract (providing the service), legitimate interest (securing and improving Bible Guided), and consent (where required for marketing or optional data sharing).
3. Sharing & Third-Party Services
We never sell personal data. We only share information with trusted vendors who help run Bible Guided:
- Stripe for billing and payment security.
- SendGrid (or another SMTP provider) to deliver email confirmations and pastoral updates.
- OpenAI to generate AI-assisted reflections and summaries. Prompts are anonymized where possible and never used to train public models.
- Analytics & monitoring tools (such as privacy-focused logging and Sentry) that alert us to performance issues.
Vendors may only process data under our instructions and must comply with security and confidentiality obligations. When legally required, we may disclose information to comply with court orders or to prevent fraud or abuse.
5. Data Retention & Security
- Account information is retained while you maintain an account and for a reasonable period afterward for audit or legal reasons.
- We honor deletion requests except where retention is required for legal, billing, or abuse-prevention purposes.
- We use encryption in transit, limited employee access, logging, and monitoring to safeguard sensitive data.
6. Your Choices
- Update account information and faith preferences in the dashboard.
- Opt out of marketing emails using unsubscribe links.
- Control cookie and analytic preferences with our consent banner.
- Request data export or deletion by contacting support—responses typically occur within 30 days.
7. Children & Church Accounts
Bible Guided is designed for adults, pastors, and supervised family experiences. Children’s accounts are only created under a parent/guardian profile with limited data collection. Pastors and church admins are responsible for receiving appropriate consent from their congregations when sharing member data with us.
