Whatever country is meant by “the land shadowing with wings,” this chapter begins with a warning of judgment against it. God has a dispute with that nation because of what it has done against his people.
1. It threatens God’s people (Isaiah 18:1, Isaiah 18:2).
2. All the neighboring nations are called to pay attention to what will happen next (Isaiah 18:3).
3. Even if God seems, for a time, not to care about the distress of his people, he will finally rise against their enemies and cut them off in a striking way (Isaiah 18:4-6).
4. This outcome will bring great glory to God (Isaiah 18:7).
