This is the close of the laws about sacrifices, though some of them are later repeated and explained. They should be seen in two ways. First, they were a provision for the priests, in Leviticus 7:35 and 7:36. When they were set apart for this work and office, God made sure they would have a steady and comfortable living. God will care for those who serve him so that they are well paid and well supplied. Those who receive the Spirit’s anointing to minister for the Lord will have their share from the Lord’s offerings, and it will be a good share. God’s work is its own reward, and obedience brings a present blessing.
Second, these laws were a lasting rule for the people, that they should bring these offerings according to the command given and willingly give the priests their portion. God commanded the Israelites to bring their offerings (Leviticus 7:38). This shows that acts of worship are commanded by God. They are not left to our choice, as if we could do them or skip them whenever we like. We are bound to do them at the right time, and we risk ourselves if we neglect them. The keeping of Christ’s commands cannot be less necessary than the keeping of Moses’ laws was.
