In this chapter, we find three main parts. First, the people of Israel are charged with sin, especially greed and oppression, along with dishonest and violent behavior (Micah 2:1-2). They even treated women, children, and other innocent people harshly (Micah 2:8-9). They also pushed God’s prophets aside and tried to silence them (Micah 2:6-7), while liking false prophets who told them what they wanted to hear (Micah 2:11).
Second, God warns them of judgment for these sins. They will be humbled and made poor (Micah 2:3-5), and they will be driven out of the land (Micah 2:10).
Third, God gives words of comfort for the faithful among them, with promise of blessing in the Messiah, God’s chosen Savior (Micah 2:12-13). This is the main shape and purpose of most chapters in this and other prophets.
