This chapter begins Mark’s account of the death and suffering of our Lord Jesus. We all need to know not only the history of these events, but also their deeper meaning and purpose.

1. The chief priests and scribes form a plot against Christ (Mark 14:1-2).

2. Jesus is anointed at a supper in Bethany, two days before his death (Mark 14:3-9).

3. Judas agrees with the chief priests to betray him (Mark 14:10-11).

4. Jesus eats the Passover with his disciples, gives them the Lord’s Supper, and speaks with them during and after the meal (verses 12-31).

5. Jesus suffers deep anguish in the garden of Gethsemane (Mark 14:32-42).

6. Judas betrays him, and the chief priests’ servants arrest him (Mark 14:43-52).

7. He is brought before the high priest, condemned, and insulted there (Mark 14:53-65).

8. Peter denies him (Mark 14:66-72).

Most of these passages were already given in Matthew 26.
