In this chapter, we see the east gate of the temple set apart for the prince (Ezekiel 44:1-3). We also find a rebuke to the house of Israel for their past dishonor of God’s sanctuary, along with a charge to guard it more carefully in the future (Ezekiel 44:4-9).
The chapter then speaks about the Levites who had once been guilty of idolatry. They are lowered in rank, while the priesthood is confirmed in the family of Zadok, who had kept faithful to God (Ezekiel 44:10-16). After that, the chapter gives several laws and rules for the priests (Ezekiel 44:17-31).
