Here Solomon again shows the sin and foolishness of people who are determined to get rich. They decide they will do it, by right means or wrong means, and they want it as fast as possible. They rush to build an estate.
First, they do not have real comfort in what they get. They have an evil eye, meaning they are always unhappy when others have more than they do. They also begrudge even necessary expenses, because they think those costs keep them from looking rich, and the success of others keeps them from being rich. So they stay restless and troubled.
Second, they have no assurance that their wealth will last, yet they do nothing to prepare for losing it. Poverty will come upon them, and the riches they gave wings to, so they could fly toward them, will fly away from them instead. But they feel safe and do not plan ahead. They do not consider that, while they are hurrying to be rich, they are really hurrying to be poor, since they trust uncertain riches.
