Here we have a brief summary of the bronze work and the gold work of the temple, much like the earlier account (1 Kings 7:13, etc.). The main thing to notice is that Huram, the skilled craftsman, was very careful and faithful. He finished everything he had been given to make (2 Chronicles 4:11), and he left no part of the work unfinished.

Huram is called “his father” in 2 Chronicles 4:16. This may have been a kind of title, like “Father Huram,” because the king of Tyre called him “Huram my father,” showing respect for his skill. Solomon used the same way of speaking. Huram was a master craftsman, and in a sense a father to the workers in bronze and iron. He did his work well, with both skill and steady effort.

Solomon also showed great generosity. He made the temple vessels in great abundance (2 Chronicles 4:18), with many of each kind. That likely allowed many workers to be used and helped the work move quickly. It also meant that some vessels could be stored for later use when others wore out. He had freely received, and he freely gave.

When Solomon had made enough for the present need, he did not take the extra bronze for himself. It was set apart for God, and it would be used for God’s service.
