Of the gold, the silver, and the brass, and the iron, there is no number. Arise therefore, and be doing, and the LORD be with thee.
David also commanded all the princes of Israel to help Solomon his son, saying,
Is not the LORD your God with you? and hath he not given you rest on every side? for he hath given the inhabitants of the land into mine hand; and the land is subdued before the LORD, and before his people.
Now set your heart and your soul to seek the LORD your God; arise therefore, and build ye the sanctuary of the LORD God, to bring the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and the holy vessels of God, into the house that is to be built to the name of the LORD.

David here calls on the princes of Israel to help Solomon in the great work before him, and each one to lend a hand. Those who sit on the throne cannot do all the good they would like unless the people around them support them. So David wanted the princes to advise Solomon, encourage him, and make the work as easy as possible by helping in their own place.
He first shows them the duty they owe to be eager in this matter, out of thankfulness to God for all he had done for them. God had given them victory, rest, and a good land to inherit (1 Chronicles 22:18). The more God has done for us, the more we should try to do for him.
Then David urges them toward the right spirit for this work (1 Chronicles 22:19). “Set your heart and soul to seek God” means make him your joy and highest aim, and keep his honor before you. Seek him as your greatest good and final goal, with your whole heart and life. Make religion your choice and your work, and then you will not begrudge the effort or cost of helping build his sanctuary.
If the heart is truly set on God, then the mind, the hands, the property, and every resource will be gladly used for him.
